It has been a busy few weeks across the Little Bear’s sites, with healthy eating activities, getting creative for Father’s Day and the excitement of our baby chicks hatching. Here is a quick round-up of some of the activities that our little bear cubs have taken part in.
This gave us the opportunity to let the little ones get creative. The children were busy baking and building to make some gifts and card for Father’s Day. At the same time we’ve used the opportunity to teach them about different people in our community. The creative exercises have also been a chance to teach the children about pencil control with shape drawing.
We are pleased to announce that in the early hours of Wednesday 16th of June our first chick was born.
Some of our preschool children have come to visit and we have named her Skippy as she is very active and jumping around in the cage. She is eating lots and of course with the hot weather doing very well with drinking her water.
Once she is more settled our little ones will be able to hold her.
Healthy Eating Awareness
The children at Little Bear’s in Wanstead Village have been doing lots of activities for ‘Healthy Eating Week’. They have been talking about what foods are good for us and what foods we should not have too much of. They have been getting involved in making and tasting lots of rummy fruit smoothies. Not only does this encourage the little ones to try need flavours but teaches them about health and nutrition.
Learning needs to be fun for our under 2’s.
To teach the this age group about the fire brigade and fire safety we’ve been getting creative with the paint! They have made their own shakers to take home and having lots of fun at the same time.
